Our family had the opportunity to visit This Is The Place Heritage Park and more specifically, visit the park for their Animal Days (that will continue through May 25). We went for my son's birthday but chose not to go until late afternoon, just as the rain was setting in. The receptionist warned us they put away the ponies first so we hurried over to the ponies for a pony ride but just missed them. The workers put the ponies away just after we arrived. But what do I love about that? At least it shows that they care about the animals enough to put them away and not make them work in freezing cold conditions (and it was definitely freezing cold. The wind mixed with rain mixed with cold ... freezing).

We visited the barn where the animals were. They were about 1-3 weeks old and adorable. My son was so worried about the mama sheep when they'd bleat at him, concerned that he was making them nervous. And he loved the dogs that were there that were available for adoption.

Despite the rain, we continued on. We visited some of the cabins and learned some of the history about them. And of course we stopped by the doughnut shop and inhaled a dozen of those little heaven doughnuts that are so light and fluffy.
The rain finally completely stopped by the time we had to leave. It was a great visit though and we can't wait to go back.
